With land costs rising, it is cheaper to build up than out
October 22nd, 2011

In this article, the Chicago Tribune discusses how home elevators are becoming more and more common in new home construction.

"What was then an exception has since become something of a rule, he added. Elevators are now installed in about half the homes his company builds. And in 30 to 40 percent of the rest, Page provides framing for a future elevator."

"With land costs rising, it's cheaper to build up rather than out, leading to more vertical houses.  Growing numbers of upscale home buyers plan to live in their houses the rest of their lives, and know they must plan now for future limitations on mobility. And while elevators haven't grown much cheaper, their typically less-than-$25,000 cost is an ever-smaller fraction of total expense in some elaborate dwellings."

Remodels on the rise
October 13th, 2011

REMI Home Elevators likes to track trends in the home improvement market.  This article from San Antonio discusses the jump in home improvement permits in the last four months as homeowners look to add value to their homes without having to go out and buy a new home in this uncertain marketplace.

One possible improvement is a residential elevator from REMI.  Home elevators are no longer just for the wealthy.  As costs have fallen, many families are choosing to add an elevator as an upgrade and equity booster.
